Your State’s Favorite Marvel Movie

Favorite Marvel MovieWikimedia Commons

Marvel! A name that needs no introduction. Well, in the state Utah it does not. Utahns are crazy (in its literal sense) Marvel movies’ fans. Recent research revealed that Utah had a fourteen-way tie among the eighteen Marvel movies released. While there were a couple of states that only had one to two ties for the first position. So, you can clearly tell just how obsessed the Utahns are with Marvel movies. Lucky for the Spectrum Cable TV subscribers, their viewers can relish in watching these movies in the comfort of their houses.

Anyhow, in case you want to know more about the Utah-Marvel affair, here it goes:

U loves M

As already mentioned, Utah had a 14-way tie for the first place amongst the eighteen Marvel movies released till date. Here’s a list of the movies that did not really meet the Utahns’ expectations. This includes the following:

  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Black Panther
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor: Ragnarok

Most probably this solved the whole Utah’s obsession with Marvel movies equation for you. If these statistics did not dazzle you much, here’s another story.

A Decade of Marvel’s Charm and the Utahns’ Celebrations

There cannot be a better piece of news than this to convince you all that Utahns are indeed the greatest Marvel fans alive on the face of this Earth. Excuse the exaggeration! But, hey how else would you justify the screening of all Marvel movies in three different cinemas for two weeks to celebrate Marvel Studios’ tenth anniversary? Three Megaplex theatres screened twenty Marvel films to honor the studios decade of existence and bringing entertainment to theatres. These twenty movies included Iron Man, The Wasp, and Ant-Man. In fact, three out of these twenty movies including The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America: The First Avenger was never seen in the IMAX format before.

The Best Marvel Film Festival Host City!

This film festival ran in three cities in Utah that included Vineyard, West Valley City, and West Jordan from Aug 30 through Sept 6. Tickets for each individual movie were available for pre-booking and the fans got a chance to jump onto a roller coaster of memories and nostalgia as they sat there watching movies including Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

So, now that you have realized that Utah loved ALMOST all marvel movies released till date, there’s not really a FAVORITE that the Utahns can pick. You can call them a bunch of indecisive people, to say the least. Since it has been established that Utahns are uncertain about their most favorite Marvel movie, let’s have a sneak peek at one’s of the most celebrated franchise that came from the Marvel Studios- Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Chris Hemsworth – The Eye Candy

From those sea-blue eyes to that square jaw, everything about this handsome actor makes one drool. The actor, most famously dubbed as Thor played the Kim in an Australian TV show named Home and Away. Also, this show brought Hemsworth in the spotlight. He is the fans’ favorite ‘Avengers’ character for a reason. And no, the reason does not include the looks only. He is more than his sharp features and brown hair. According to Zack Penn, the co-writer of The Avengers, he was skeptical of Thor’s role in the franchise and wanted to cut short the character as much as possible from the movie. Although he had his doubts about the success of the franchise, he admitted that casting Chris Hemsworth was indeed a masterstroke for the Marvel Studios. According to him, Hemsworth helped in solidifying the character of Thor in The Avengers series. He has also admitted that the moment he saw Chris in the Marvel offices, he told himself that this man IS Thor.

It goes without saying that Hemsworth is indeed a talented actor. The fact that the Avengers series received a mixed set of reviews as opposed to Chris being praised for his role as Thor speaks for the actor’s capabilities itself.

The Whole Team was at it! Again!

After Hemsworth, the reason to love Avengers was the reunion of the whole team. In fact, the Avengers movie is the place where you see the whole team together. Sometimes fighting against and at others alongside each other. Other Marvel movies played along with team-ups featuring some characters in one franchise and the remaining in another. However, Avengers, unlike these movies brought the whole crew together.

Hulk

Talking about the mega-reunion of all characters in Avengers, one character that stole the spotlight (after Thor obviously) was Hulk.  The Hulk fans were rather excited because it was the first time since 2012 that they got the chance of watching this huge green beast on screen. Oh, how much everyone missed him.

Great Dialogue

Well, no one was amazed by the collection of rather snappy dialogues that were delivered throughout the movie. The reason that the dialogues did not astonish anyone, was because of Joss Whedon. The screenwriter is celebrated for his snarky dialogues and is rightly dubbed as the most creative storytellers of this time.

Action Packed

The moment the movie began, the fans were assured that they were in for a whole 2.5 hours of action-packed fun. Twice in the movie, the whole line-up got together to face their enemies in some balletic action. Since childhood, the Marvel fans have been imagining such thrilling scenarios in their heads. Many die-hard fans would have subscribed to cable TV deals like Xfinity TV packages to be able to watch the movies over and over again.   It was a total joy for the written words to be translated into such fine acts by the talented actors.

That being said, there are a couple of things about the movie that the audience did not like.

No Spiderman

It is an agreed-upon fact that Thor and Hulk took much of the viewers’ attention. However, no one was n caught up to the extent to ignore the absence of Spiderman. Yes, fans were rather sad that the poor chap did not make it to this series of the Marvel movies.

Bruce-Natasha Romance

While the majority enjoys watching romantic encounters and mushy moments between lovers on-screen, this one failed to impress many. Many viewers did not buy the idea that completely came unexpectedly. Anyone who religiously follows the Marvel movies knows how Natasha said in the first-ever Avengers movie that love is for children. Ummm….

So, all in all, it was a good watch that lived up to the fans’ expectations. As they say, no one’s perfect-the same goes for movies as well. Every movie has its flaws. Avengers: Age of Ultron did too. However, the strengths in the characterization and cameo outweighed the flaws in the movie by a great margin. There is a reason why the movie went on to make $1.4 Bn at the box office. It was, in fact, the second most expensive movie ever made. Statistics reveal that the production budget of the movie was somewhere around $250 million. Now that is a huge number!
